Co-operative OSS Project

 CO-OP Overview

Specifically targeting the systems 'integration tax' pressure on operators and service providers, five major mobile suppliers have teamed up with the TeleManagement Forum to drive open management standards. Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia Siemens Networks, Samsung  and Wipro have joined forces to drive implementation of a common architecture for mobile network management.

The CO-OP members will work together on architecture specification, testing and verification of mobile network management systems (NMS). The goal of the CO-OP is to reduce the complexity of integrating network equipment and management systems from multiple vendors in mobile operator networks.

The collaboration will start as a TeleManagement F...

 TM Forum Interface Program
CO-OP Joins the TM Forum Interface Program

The TM Forum Interface Program was launched in April 2008 as the entity responsible for all normative interface work within the TM Forum.

Under the TM Forum Interface Program, all interface development efforts will be unified. That includes OSS/J (the multi-technology APIs that deliver on NGOSS design guidelines); mTOP (network and service management from transport); IPDR (the interfaces used for usage data management and accounting); and CO-OP(implementation of a common architecture for mobile network management.) Each will now leverage each other’s development resources to create a common roadmap and architectural framework.

CO~OP Architecture White Paper SOA application at the Domain Manager level
This paper discusses the CO~OP peer-to-peer interface evolution proposing the introduction of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and the use of Architectural Patterns as the Domain Manager level. This paper's intent is to solicit feedback and technical interaction as we move this work forward.
Developing Operations Support System Interoperability to Reduce Systems Integration Costs
Today, operators and service providers face considerable difficulties in integrating Operations Support Systems (OSS) provided by different vendors. They cannot easily deploy the built-in functionality of vendors' OSS systems, resulting in excessive implementation costs. To provide a practical solution to this issue, nine major mobile network equipment suppliers have teamed up with the TeleManagement Forum to drive open management standards.

 CO-OP Team Activities
Co-operative Open OSS Project (CO-OP)
Mobile network equipment providers (Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia Siemens Networks, Samsung and Wipro) have initiated a CO~OPerative OSS Project (CO~OP) under TeleManagement Forum (TMF). The CO~OP members will work together on architecture specification, interface specification, testing and verification of operation support systems (OSS) The CO~OP aims to reduce the complexity of integrating operation support systems from multiple network equipment providers in the wireless service providers environment.
 CO-OP and NGOSS
CO-OP is a practical implementation of the TMF New Generation Operations Systems and Software (NGOSS) framework, specifically targeted at common management of multi-vendor mobile networks. The deliverables from the CO-OP work provide feedback and input to the overall NGOSS framework as well as provide implementation details.
