The Massive Scalability group was tasked with delivering deployment patterns and strategies that promote carrier grade scalability across common OSS/J use cases or scenarios. This presentation described the current Massive Scalability effort, outlining the planned distribution patterns and strategies designed to scale a typical Tier 1 IP Billing scenario. The methodology used to derive the patterns was discussed along with the target deployment environment. This online seminar was presented by Brian Naughton from Sonic Software and Tangi Lemoine from HighDeal.

Service Activation has been in final release for 18 months and has been successfully implemented and deployed in the industry. But to more fully support rapid, low cost, component based solutions today and tomorrow, the specification must keep pace with changing industry requirements.

This online seminar covered current state and purpose of the APIs, factors driving the need for change, scope of the extension from services to products, resources and services, alignment with the OSS/J Inventory API and other functional enhancements.

The goal of the OSS/J roadmap is to identify the APIs that make up a full OSS solution that supports flow-through Service Fulfillment, Assurance and Billing.

This presentation provided a global view of the API roadmap before describing each API and its interactions with the other APIs, how the API roadmap leverages current standards, business scenarios supporting these APIs and identifying the current boundaries of the roadmap, a view of the strategy to realize of the roadmap from the APIs that are currently available.

This online seminar introduced a set of tools to facilitate the development of the XML messaging support in OSS/J implementations. This presentation touches on how the XML Schema Generator generates an OSS/J-compliant XML schema from the Java API; XML Binding Support facilitates the development of XML serialization; Message-driven Bean Generation facilitates the development of an MDB that processes OSS/J XML messages.
